Second Grade, Here I Come!

Blake's officially a second grader today...yay!

Blake's Last Day of First Grade!

I can't quite figure out how this happened so quickly, but Blake had his last day of school today. Andy and I took him to school to give his teachers their gifts and I tried my hardest to get a picture of him with his buddies. He told me that I was embarrassing him and ran off, but some of the little girls in his class were happy to fill in! We stayed for an annual event that the graduating 5th graders do every year, which is an "egg drop". They all take a raw egg and wrap it up as well as they can using lots of creativity (think parachutes made from plastic grocery bags), and then the custodian gets up on the roof and drops the eggs down onto a giant target shaped like a fried egg! The kids whose eggs stay intact get a prize. Andy watched all this for a few minutes and then decided that he wanted to stand in the middle of the egg target...we had to go inside so he wouldn't get hit by a flying egg!

Fun and Games!

We went to the mall Tuesday afternoon to find some end-of-the-year gifts for Blake's teachers

and of course we had to make a pitstop at the play area. Can you believe Blake's skinny little legs? He's growing so fast, he can't eat enough to pad his bones! Andy's favorite thing to do at the play area is to step on each of the big letters printed on the floor mat and say their names...he's really learning his letters, their sounds, and his numbers lately! He takes after his cousin Jack when he sings the alphabet song and adds a high-pitched flourish at the end!

Hot Wheels--Beat That!

Blake brought all his Hot Wheels cars downstairs a few days ago and created this cool design by lining them up. He shed a few tears when "Godzilla Andy" came crashing through, but he's since forgiven him!

A Bacon and Eggs Kind of Mother's Day

Rich and the boys took me to The Macaroni Grill for Mother's Day and we had a great time! Blake had decided that he wanted to get me a purse as his gift, so they went shopping and he picked out this awesome bag. Rich said that he thought it was hysterical when he saw it in the store, and I have to agree!

Andy's a Big Helper!

Rich's Birthday

Rich had a really fun birthday on Tuesday! He got a bunch of great gifts: two boxes of golf balls, a big bag of chocolate chip cookies, a cool multi-screwdriver tool from the boys, a driving range gift card, a subscription to National Geographic, some cigars and a humidor. Andy helped Rich open all his gifts; he was pretty upset when he realized that none of the presents for him and that not one of them contained a train...he riffled through all the boxes for a long time before he finally gave up on finding a toy! We had quite a feast with steak, fried okra, corn on the cob, poppyseed cake and homemade black cherry ice cream...yum!

Morning Routine

Monday morning while Blake was eating his breakfast (cotton candy/cherry flavored yogurt...yum!), Andy crept downstairs, made himself comfortable on the couch and watched a cartoon. Looks pretty cozy!

Blake's First Visit From the Tooth Fairy

It's hard to believe he's old enough, but Blake lost his first tooth last Friday night! He'd been wiggling his bottom front tooth for a couple of weeks and it was hanging from a thread. After reminding him about the Tooth Fairy, he finally agreed to let me pull it out. The next morning he discovered that she had left him a whole dollar! His other bottom front tooth is slightly loose, so he's been wiggling it with gusto!

I Love My Thomas Hat!

The other day I dug a Thomas the Tank Engine hat of Blake's out of storage and gave it to Andy. He thought that was "awthome!" We're planning to take him to ride on Thomas when he comes to Golden in September...I have a feeling Andy will think that's the highlight of his whole life so far!

A Visit From Mammo

Mom came for a visit at the beginning of April and we had a great time. Cocoa thinks that Blake's guinea pig is her baby and likes to try to herd him around! We did some shopping, went to the Musuem of Nature & Science and to the park, but best of all we just got to hang out and relax (as much as you can relax with the Andy-man)!

Zoo Field Trip

In April Blake's class had a field trip to the Denver Zoo and Andy and I went along to chaparone. We had a wonderful time up until it started to snow!

Never Put a Frog in Your Brother's Bed...

Blake's really become quite a reader this year!

Test Subjects

I recently got a new digital camera and was trying it out on the boys...I've since figured out better how to use it, but I thought these turned out pretty well!
